ABOUT

  • House of Inana is a creative studio and think tank where design, art, architecture, anthropology, and storytelling converge. Playful, explorative, and boundaryless, the studio thrives on collaboration, from large-scale commissions to grassroots initiatives, tackling complex challenges with curiosity and care.

At its core, we seek innovative, regenerative solutions to urgent issues: the exploitation of human and natural resources. By weaving together diverse expertise and perspectives, we focus on strengthening local infrastructure, preserving traditional knowledge, and ensuring it flows across generations.

Our early projects, the Black Sheep Project and the Aware Project, exemplify this approach, bridging disciplines to explore space, storytelling, and materiality. Here, experimentation meets action, ideas are transformed into tangible outcomes, and creativity supports sustainable, meaningful practices. Study travels and cultural research inform and inspire our ongoing work.

We are the ancestors of the future.

Beyond the studio in the nearby village, The Ocean Weavery House offers a remote artist-in-residence and retreat space, rooted in weaving, nature, and regenerative living. Visitors can access a rare digital hand-weaving loom, explore creative projects, or join intimate retreats in weaving, plant dye, homestead skills, and more. The house is a space to slow down, work with your hands, reflect, and connect, around the long communal table, during workshops, or in shared moments of daily life.

If you are seeking to learn, create, or explore a new path, we welcome applications for internships, apprenticeships, and work-away opportunities in art, design, and weaving. The Ocean Weavery is also a place to pause, reflect, and rediscover your own rhythms, away from the usual 9–5.

  • Manifesto

We are the weavers of new worlds

threading together ancient wisdom, earth’s rhythms, and bold creativity.

    Inana rises:

Daughter of the sun, bearer of fire and tools, guardian of deep roots and regenerative futures.

Here, art meets activism. Design serves the earth. Life slows down to listen, to heal, to grow.

We are a sanctuary for transformation, a design studio, a lifestyle label, and a retreat house, all woven into one living practice. The weavers dance, a rememberance, of the old ways to pave the future.

We honor the sacred cycle of descent and return, of unlearning colonial stories and rematriating the land, the body, and the spirit.

Through slow making, regenerative craft, and radical connection, we forge paths toward a postcolonial way of living:

    grounded, vibrant, and fiercely alive.

Join us in weaving the future, one thread, one story, one breath at a time.

Meet the Founder

I tell stories of the ocean. My home is the Stadlandet peninsula, situated at the most western point of the Norwegian coastline.

Here the rough nature, stormy weather and fast changing light, poses an endless catalogue of inspiration, forming the essence of my woven fibre art and design works.

In my creative practice i gather stories, that create handwoven goods for a modern conscious way of living.

Let´s get nature closer to you, and create a sacred space, in your home and/or close to your heart, with wearing my Oceanweaver wearables. A sacred space, that you can revisit and that keep the ocean close to your heart.

I am a textile artist and designer, - a contemporary weaver.

I am the Oceanweaver. Yours Truly, Karina Siegmund.

BACKGROUND

Being german, living in a remote corner of the world, close to nature, grants a bird’s eye view on urban and global issues. Seeing weaving as one of the original technologies in ancient history, I consciously bring the weaving legacy forward, through our time to the next. Textiles have always been part of our cultural heritage, and always will, functionally and in terms of identity.
My art and design works give transparent insides into all aspects of production, that I transmit by storytelling. A conscious way of living in todays challenging times of climate crises and pandemic, offering an alternative to fast life and consumption model based upon exploitation of human and material resources. Being The Oceanweaver, running the Ocean Weavery Surfhouse, I want to open those platforms to share the weavers dance, an educational approach upon the quest, how to live, where values form the base of all decision making, with a regenerative approach - to give back more than ones takes. That is when House of Inana was born.

Lets meet at the longtable, and around the fire, to craft solutions for todays challenges, to pass on wisdom, cultural identity and a thriving earth.
